To protect students’ personal information, staff enrolled on Moodle modules must not use Moodle group functionality to manage resubmissions and extensions of assignments and assessments in Moodle. Group functionality in Moodle supports collaboration and groupwork and students are able to see the membership of each group as you would expect for a collaboration feature.
This makes the group feature unsuitable for restricting access to assignments being used for extensions and/or resubmissions.
Moodle has inbuilt workflows to use for extensions and resubmissions. If you are using restrict access to restrict access to the assessment by email address, ensure that you hide the restriction so that students cannot see who else has access to the assessment.
This is also the case if you are using a separate module for submission points, groups must not be created to give access to specific students.
The Turnitin Assignment activity does not have inbuilt features to enable resubmissions and extensions and will require the setting up of an alternative assignment(s) to manage submissions for students with resubmissions and/or extensions.
In order to restrict this assignment to students with extensions or resubmissions you will need to restrict access by profile field and add individual email addresses for relevant students.
You must hide the restriction so that the names and emails of students with extensions/resubmissions are not visible to other students on the module.
