Lecture Capture live streaming guide

Explore how to prepare for and teach with Lecture Capture live streaming.

Student access to live stream

  • Students must access the live stream via a browser. A live stream does not work on the Echo360 app.
  • Students select the Lecture Capture link from the relevant Moodle module to open up the Echo360 classroom page with all scheduled lectures.
    • If the lecture is currently live, students will see a pink Live badge and a broadcast signal icon displays to the left of the recording title. Selecting this opens up a screen where students are prompted to view the live stream.
    • If the badge is grey, this indicates a future class that is scheduled to be streamed live. Selecting this opens up a screen with a countdown timer until the stream starts. Students may have to refresh the Lecture Capture page at the time of the lecture to join the live stream.

Review attendance at live stream

  • To view the number of students/attendees for the live stream lecture (up to 200), select the Live Attendance button from the top menu in Echo360. Selecting this icon shows a list of attendees and any instructors (lecturers and teaching assistants) on the module.

  • Only registered users who are actively viewing the live stream will display, anonymous users will be counted in the red number icon but won’t be visible in the attendance list.

Please be aware, this is based on live data. If a student stays for 5 minutes, then leaves, their name will disappear from the attendance list.
