Subscription options

There are four different subscription modes for forums:

• Optional subscription - Participants can choose whether to be subscribed.
• Forced subscription - Everyone is subscribed and cannot unsubscribe.
• Auto subscription - Everyone is subscribed initially but can choose to unsubscribe at any time.
• Subscription disabled - Subscriptions are not allowed.

Change the subscription mode on an existing forum

1. Open the forum.
2. Select Subscriptions.
3. From the dropdown menu Subscription mode, select the desired mode.

Subscribe users to forums

You can choose who to subscribe to specific forums by using Manage subscribers.

1. Open the forum
2. Select Subscriptions.
3. Ensure that subscription mode is set to either Auto subscription or Optional subscription.
4. From the dropdown menu on the left, select Manage subscribers.
5. Highlight the name of the potential subscriber(s) from the box on the right and select Add. 
6. To remove existing subscribers, highlight their name(s) from the box on the left and select Remove.

Please note: Since the subscription mode must be set to optional or auto to manage subscribers, students you have subscribed can choose to unsubscribe from the forum. To allow access to only specific forums and use forced subscription, you can use group forums.
