Create a screencast with Kaltura Capture guide

How to create a screencast with Kaltura Capture

About Kaltura Capture recordings after 180 days

Source files are deleted from Kaltura MediaSpace (https://mediaspace.city.ac.uk) 180 days after upload to MediaSpace.  Users will be given a notification 20 days before deletion via email. They will also be sent instructions on downloading source files for safe-keeping.

How does this affect what I can do with my video on MediaSpace?

The removal of the source file means you will no longer be able to:

  • Clip, trim or re-transcode the video
  • Grab or change the thumbnail image for the video

How can I edit a Kaltura Capture screencast once the source files are deleted?

You will receive a notification to download the source files from Kaltura MediaSpace 20 days before they are due for deletion. Recordings created using Kaltura Capture may include two source files - the screen capture and webcam.

The screencast below outlines how to download the source files that form part of your Kaltura Capture recording (prior to the deletion of source files) to store for later editing and how to edit the files using Adobe Rush.

Don't worry if you missed the notification, you can log a request on IT Self Service Portal to request a high quality version of the screen capture and webcam recordings.
