How do I add users to my blog?

Monitoring users posts and comments

  • Advise your users not to provide any special category and/or sensitive data that could identify a living individual.
  • As a blog administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring that users post appropriately within City's Conditions of Use policy and remove any inappropriate posts or comments from the blog.

Add user with an existing account

If the person already has an account, you can add them to your blog.

  1. From the Users menu, on the Dashboard select Add user.
  2. Input the user's username (e.g. sbbg123 or abxy123)
  3. Select the appropriate role from the Role drop-down menu
  4. Select Add user.

For a full breakdown of the roles please see the Edublogs guidance on roles.

Add a user with legacy St George's email address

Log a request on IT Self Service Portal that includes a list of blog URLs that the user with a St George's legacy email address requires access to and indicate what role they should have on each of the blogs. The team will create a local account and add the user to the relevant blogs.

How do I add a comment to a blog?

  1. From the My Sites tab, select the blog you want to comment and select Visit Site to view it.
  2. Select the link to comments (this is displayed underneath or alongside the post).
  3. Write your comment and select Post comment.

How do I view comments that have been made on my posts?

  1. From the Settings menu, select Discussion.
  2. Select the checkbox alongside E-mail me whenever… Anyone posts a comment. These notifications will be sent to your University email address.
  3. Select Save changes.

Your blog Dashboard also displays recent comments. If you are viewing your blog, you can see a count of the number of comments for each post and selecting on the number of comments opens these for you to read.
