About Moodle navigation

Navigating Moodle is very much like navigating around the web page. You can select links to open content and you can use the browser back and forward buttons.

The floating navigation bar offers different methods of navigation in Moodle.

  • Select the My Moodle link to return to the home page.
  • My Favourites enables you to navigate between modules that you have favourited.
  • Use the My Modules menu to navigate between your modules.
  • The Module menu allows you to jump to a particular section of the module

The top nav bar provides access to:

  • Tools provides a link to the Rollover tool
  • Help & Support provides links to guidance on using Moodle and our other educational technologies. It also provides a link to the IT Self Service Portal if you need to report technical problems.
  • User tour will play any user tours associated with the page to help you find your way round.

The User menu opens when you select the drop-down alongside your name.

This menu gives you access to your Profile and Grades for modules that you are teaching on.User menu opened

  • You can also access your MediaSpace library from the menu - My Media.
  • Using this menu, you can navigate back to the Moodle homepage My Moodle and Log out of Moodle.

Moodle Settings MenuThe Settings menu is available in modules and provides context-sensitive links to help you to manage your module and content.

  • Select Settings in a module to open this menu.

Staff and students can navigate to the previous activity/resource or move onto the next activity/resource within a module.

  • The Jump to menu to enable users to jump to a particular activity/resource on the module rather than navigating to the previous or next activity.
