Create Video Assignment guide

The Video Assignment activity in Moodle allows students to submit coursework in video or audio format. This guide explores how to create and grade a Video Assignment.

Video Assignment FAQ

Unlike Moodle Assignment, Video Assignment does not cater for students submitting in groups. It can only be set up as an individual assignment.

If you would like students to submit group video assignment, the workaround is to use Moodle Assignment instead. Under Submission type on the Settings page, disable File submission, select Online text.

Students can then embed MediaSpace video by selecting the Embed Kaltura Media button on the online text editor.

Please note that video submissions are locked on the assignment deadline. Any edits that students make to their videos will not be reflected in their submission, unless they resubmit to the Moodle assignment point.

No. Video assignments can only be graded online.

No. Like any other individual assignment tools in Moodle, Video Assignment prevents students from seeing each other’s submission.

If you would like your students to collaborate on video projects, you can set up a Moodle forum and apply the group mode as appropriate. Students can then make their video as ‘unlisted’ on MediaSpace, and copy and paste the video link to a forum post.
