You can use the video editor to create chapters. This functionality allows viewers of videos to easily jump to specific time codes linked to the chapters
Login to MediaSpace and access video
These first steps are the same for any editing you want to do for videos in MediaSpace:
Login to Mediaspace using your university username and password and select My Media.
Select the pencil icon to the right of the relevant video to open the Editor menu.
Open editor and amend video
Navigate to the Timeline tab underneath the video, and your timeline will load beneath your chosen video.
By selecting a point on the timeline, you can quickly jump to a specific time-code.
The long vertical red line indicates where you are in the video.
Create and edit chapters
The bookmark icon to the left of the Timeline will insert a chapter wherever the red line is positioned.
Once you have selected the bookmark icon and created a chapter, you can edit its information.
Editable fields will appear below the video. They are Thumbnail, Title, Description, Timecode and Search Tags.
Use the Title field to allocate an easily-recognisable name for your chapter.
This will help people quickly select the correct chapter and jump through your video.
Once you have included all of your information, ensure you select Save before navigating away from the page.
View your chapters
You can see your chapters by selecting the hamburger icon (three horizontal lines stacked upon each other) in the top left corner of your video.
This will open an overlay menu on the left-hand side with each chapter listed in chronological order.
If you want to change any of the chapter details (name, timecode, etc), simply return to the video editor’s timeline.
Create and edit slides
The slide icon to the left of the timeline will insert a slide wherever the red line is positioned.
Once you have selected the slide icon and created a new slide, you can edit its information.
Editable fields will appear below the video. They are Upload Slide, Title, Description, Timecode and Search Tags.
Select the upload icon (the upwards-facing arrow in the first box) to select a slide image from your device.
Use the Title field to allocate an easily-recognisable name for your slide.
This will help people quickly select the correct slide and jump through your video.
Once you have included all of your information, ensure you select Save before navigating away from the page.
