This guide will explain how to edit videos in MediaSpace

About video quiz

The video quiz can help students actively engage with your content and consolidate their learning from multimedia content. The video quiz can provide you with an opportunity to provide feedback to address common misconceptions.

Select video base for quiz

  1. Login to Mediaspace using your university username and password.
  2. Select Add new at the top right. Then select Video Quiz.
  3. Choose Select alongside the video you would like to use as a base for your quiz.

The Quiz settings display in a panel on the left of the screen.

  1. In the Details section, write a name and welcome message for your quiz. You can choose to display the Instructions: All questions must be answered. The quiz will be submitted at the end.
  2. Allow Download of Questions List: Enabling this option allows students to download the list of questions before starting the quiz
  3. In the Scores section, you can choose whether to show the score to the students or not. You can also choose whether to show them which of their answers were correct and which were not.
  4. In the Experience section, you can choose whether to allow students to edit their answers before submitting at the end and whether students can skip and come back to a question.

Add question

  1. Start playing the video and pause where you want a question to be added.
  2. Select the Add a Question button to add a question and related answers.
  3. Select the style of quiz you would like to embed in your video. All four quiz styles are now enabled for Video Quiz.

Create question and save

Multiple Choice

  1. Insert your question in the first box.
  2. Insert the correct answer in the box with a green tick.
  3. Insert the incorrect answers into the other boxes. To add another answer, select the plus button.
  4. The crossed arrows button in the top left shuffles the order of the answers.
  5. The light bulb button in the top right lets you provide a hint to the question which the students can view before answers, and a rationale for the correct answer which the students can view after they answer.
  6. Select the Preview button on the top right of the screen to preview your question.
  7. Once you have completed the question and answers in that location in the video, select Save.

  8. Play the video again and pause where you want to input another question.
  9. Select Done when you have finished adding all your questions.

Reflection Point

  1. Insert your text in the textbox. This will appear as read-only text when the viewer watches the video.
  2. Once you have completed your Reflection Point, select Save.

  3. Play the video again and pause where you want to input another question.
  4. Select Done when you have finished adding all your questions.

True/False

  1. Insert your question in the first box.
  2. If your question is true, ensure that the green tick icon is next to the True box. 
  3. If your question is false, toggle the green tick/red cross by selecting the tick icon once.
  4. The True and False labels can be changed by selecting them and typing new labels.
  5. Once you have completed the question and answers in that location in the video, select Save.

  6. Play the video again and pause where you want to input another question.
  7. Select Done when you have finished adding all your questions.

Open-Ended

  1. Insert your question in the first box.
  2. Viewers will be able to respond with free-text, without a "correct answer" option.
  3. Once you have completed the question at that location in the video, select Save.

  4. Play the video again and pause where you want to input another question.
  5. Select Done when you have finished adding all your questions.

Add video quiz to Moodle

You can add the video quiz to Moodle using the Video Resource. The text Quiz will be appended to the name of the media file in your My Media list.
