Explore the features of City's media delivery platform and how to share your video content externally.

About share MediaSpace videos

There are two main options for sharing your video with external users You can create a private link and share this link or add it to a webpage or blog. The other option is to copy the embed code and embed the video on the webpage.

Share videos externally

  1. Login to mediaspace.city.ac.uk.
  2. Select My Media.
  3. Locate the video you want to share. You can scroll through your media or use the filter or search functions at the top of the page.
  4. Select the video you want to share.

  1. Select Actions to open the menu of option and then select Publish.
  2. Select Unlisted. This link can be added to a webpage or blog.
    • Choose Published to make available on a channel.
  3. Select Save.

Copy link to video

  1. Select Share below the video player.
  2. Select Link to Media Page to get the shareable URL for the video.
  3. Copy the text in the text box to the clipboard.
  4.  Paste the link to create a descriptive link on a webpage or blog.

Copy embed link

Unlike the Link to Media Page option, an embedded video is accessible to everyone who can access the page it is on, regardless of whether the original video is private or public.

  1. Select Embed to get an embed code which you can use on a webpage or blog.
  2. Choose your video size and then copy the text in the text box to the clipboard.
  3. You can now paste the embed code into a webpage editor. Whichever editor you use, make sure you have HTML editing turned on, to create a video player which will display on the page. Pasting the text into a page with HTML editing turned off will simply paste the text itself on the page.

Display video in new Kaltura player

If the player and transcript do not display properly in the external website or blog, you may need to change the embed code to display the new player.

In the embed code, replace uiConfId/47313613 with uiConfId/49091853
