Grid format features

This format displays the module sections, excluding the introductory section, as Grids. Select the Grid icon to open the content for the corresponding section. 

Module index is located on the left for quick navigation and a Block drawer on the right-hand side to provide easy access to blocks. There is an Activities block in the Block drawer to provide quick access to activities in use in your module. These may include Assignments, Quizzes and links to External tools which includes links to Lecture Capture and the module Reading List.

Module index

The Module index in a panel on the left provides a table of contents view of the module content. It displaysModule index with some sections collapsed and Practice submissions section opened the names of sections and the resources and activities within each section.

  • Section names are in bold, select a section name to view the section in the central column.
  • To open a resource or activity, select the title. The activity will open directly.
  • The Module index can be closed and opened and the sections within the index can be collapsed and expanded.
  • Content added to the Label resource on Moodle does not display in the Module index. Remember to review the central column of the module regularly to ensure that you do not miss out on any information.
  • If you access Moodle on mobile browser the Module index will overlay the main content while you access it.

 

Module blocks

Blocks including Upcoming events and School information provide additional functionality and information related toOpen block drawer button your module. Blocks are available via the Block drawer on the right-hand panel of a module.

Secondary navigation menu

The secondary navigation menu displays above the module name. This provides access to a number of functions including:

  1. Participants: Find a list of users enrolled on your module. You can filter to display only staff enrolled as Lecturers.
  2. Grades: Review your grades and feedback report for assessments on the module.
    • If you are accessing Moodle on a mobile device, Grades will be available from the More menu.
  3. Media Gallery: Access media resources published to the module channel. Please note this menu item displays even if no media has been published to the module channel. 
    • If you are accessing Moodle on a mobile device, Media Gallery will be available from the More menu.
  4. More: Open the More menu to find the option to Download module content. Please note that teaching staff may turn off this facility in some modules or may switch it off for some resources.

Grids

There is an open section at the top of the module, the remainder of the sections are presented as Grids. Select the Grid title or icon to review the content in the section.

Breadcrumb trail

Moodle leaves a breadcrumb trail for you to trace back as you move between content.

  • Selecting Section brings you back to the grid section.
  • Once you are back on the section, select Module from the secondary navigation menu to return to the module homepage.

User menu

You can access the User menu from the top right of the screen by selecting the arrow next to your picture. You can access your grades and profile. See the User menu and profile for more detailed guidance.
