Unlike Moodle assignments, there is no embedded workflow within the Turnitin assignment to enable extensions and to provide students who fail at first attempt with another attempt on the same submission area. You will need to set up a new Turnitin assignment and restrict access to the assignment to individual students. Please ensure that you have hidden the restrictions so that students do not know who has received an extension or failed a first attempt. Pay particular attention to the Restrict access settings.
Review our Create Turnitin Assignment guide if you need guidance on how to create a new Turnitin assignment and review the section on Restrict access settings box below for information on how to restrict access to only students with an extension or an opportunity to resubmit.
Ensure that you hide the Access restrictions when restricting by student profile fields.
Hiding the Access restrictions applied, by selecting the eye icon so that it displays with a line through it, ensures that you are not revealing personal information about students to their peers.
Do not duplicate a Turnitin Assignment as it will break the submission point.
Use the Restrict access settings to restrict access to the assignment to the relevant students
Ensure that the assignment is completely hidden from students whose email address are not added to the restrict access settings by selecting on the eye icon next to the word Student. The eye will display with a line through it to indicate that the restriction is hidden.
