Moodle is one of the Online Learning Environments available at City St George's. It is used by staff and students at the Clerkenwell and Moorgate campuses. Lecturers design Moodle modules to enhance the student learning experience.
There are two options for an introduction to Moodle - a workshop or a self-paced module on Moodle.
This session is an introduction to Moodle for teaching staff and provides the basic skills required to develop and manage a module in Moodle.
After the workshop, you will be able to:

This short, hands-on session will introduce you to the DALI presentation podium, guiding you through how to present content to students by using the in-built Windows PC, laptop connectivity and visualiser. We will also look at the in-room controls for the Lecture Capture recording system.
Please note: This workshop is face-to-face. If room and staff availability allows, we can run this session in the room you are due to teach in. However, during term time, rooms can be difficult to book and so the session will take place in the LEaD training room - B310.
A separate workshop covers the use of the ISLA system.
Moodle offers a variety of options for online assessment, including:
This interactive session will explore the benefits and considerations of each assessment type and will help to inform your choice of assessment. We will consider how to choose your assignment type based on:
At the end of the session, you will have an overview of the assignment types available, their individual advantages and constraints.
Depending on your choice of assignment tool, you can further explore Moodle or Turnitin assignments further.
Making your module accessible is an online workshop that equips you with the knowledge and tools needed to ensure your Moodle module is accessible to everyone. During this session, you'll discover how to use Ally, a tool integrated into Moodle, to generate accessibility reports for your module and to identify and fix accessibility issues. We'll also show you how to use Microsoft’s built-in accessibility checkers on documents to ensure accessibility compliance and to address common challenges related to the accessibility of PDFs.
Additionally, the session will highlight the importance of providing captions and offer support for correcting captions to adhere to City St George's lecture recording policies.
Finally, you'll learn how to support your students by introducing them to various accessibility tools and features, and offering guidance on how to make the most of lecture recordings.
Lecture Capture makes automatic recordings of lectures or presentations. Echo360 process and manage Lecture Capture recordings at the Clerkenwell and Moorgate campuses. Although the recordings are scheduled automatically, you will have to connect them to your module.

The Presentation Station is a recording system for creating educational videos. It allows a presenter to be superimposed over a background, which can be an image, a screen capture, or a PowerPoint presentation. To keep the presentation on track, the notes from a PowerPoint can be displayed on-screen or the built-in autocue can be used.
The recording is saved as an mp4 video, which can be easily uploaded to a user's MediaSpace for use in their teaching.
To aid production time, the video is made live. With a title generator, pre-made arrangements and an opportunity to pause, with a little planning no post editing will be required.
The system is located within the LEaD office (room B315) on the 3rd floor of University Building. An induction session can be booked on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday, depending on availability.
All inductions for the Presentation Station must be booked via the MILL Facilites Request Form
