About PGrid format

PGrid features

The image below is the view of PGrid format with editing off. The Module Dashboard displays at the top of the module for quick access to useful features and activities. Content is then presented in grid that is organised by week - e.g. Week 1, Week 2.

The image below shows PGrid format when editing on. Lecturers can move the order of links on the Module Dashboard. Content and activities can be added to the relevant week of the module. Blocks can be added to the right-hand side of the module.

PGrid format contains the Module Dashboard at the top of the module.

PGrid format has the same blocks applied by default as the City Course Format:

  • Quickmail block,
  • Module Events and updates blocks,
  • Student Information block and
  • Staff Information block.
  • To create a heading in PGrid, you need to create a Label-Basic.
  • Labels and indentations maintain the in week structure for PGrid format.

In the example below, we are in edit mode of the image above.

  • The main heading, created with a Label-Basic, is on the far left.
  • The subheading, also created with a Label-Basic, has been indented once to the right.
  • The content, (Page resource), has been indented two times to the right:

  1. Select Edit next to the relevant activity.
  2. Use the Move right arrow to indent the heading/activity. This determines how activity will display in the layout.

Add resources or activities (excluding Quiz)

  1. Select Add an activity or resource and select Page from the Resources tab.
  2. Input a Name.
  3. Description is optional.
  4. In the Page content input field - write text, add links to videos or other content

Upload documents (including PDFs)

PDF and other documents need to be added to a Page (see above) and the instructions to download must be bolded and underlined (e.g. Download the Revision notes)

  1. Open the relevant Page and select Settings. Choose Edit settings.
  2. In the Page content input field.
  3. Select the link icon from the text editor. A Create link pop-up opens.
  4. Select Browse repositories to navigate to the file.
  5. Select the relevant PDF or other document from your OneDrive or your desktop.
  6. Select Upload file. Your file link should be hyperlinked.
  7. Check Open in new window.
  8. Select Save and display and remember to check that the link works as expected.

Related guidance

  1. Open the Page where the file needs to be replaced.
  2. Select Settings, choose Edit settings.
  3. Highlight the link, where the document needs to be replaced.
  4. Select the Link icon on the text editor.

  1.  A Create link pop-up will open. 
  2. Select Browse  repositories.

  1. Navigate to OneDrive or the relevant drive on your computer.
  2. Select the relevant file. 
  3. Select Upload this file.
  4. A warning message will display. Select Overwrite to replace the old version of the document.

  1. The link on Moodle will be updated. Select Save and display. 
  2. Check that the link is correct.
