Add multimedia to Moodle guide

Explore how to create Video Resource in your module and how to embed content from external repositories.

About Box of Broadcasts (BoB)

BoB is Learning on Screen’s on demand television and radio service for education. BoB’s academic-friendly and focused system allows staff and students to record programmes from over 75 free-to-air channels; and search the archive of over 2.4 million broadcasts dating back as far as the 1950s.

Student access to BoB

Students need to login to BoB with their @city.ac.uk credentials to view the embedded or linked content.

Create account on BoB

  1. Go to BoB and select the Sign in button.
  2. In the Where are you from box, type City, University of London. Select Go
    • If it is your first login, you may need to enter your legacy City email address and a confirmation link will be emailed to you.
    • Select the link in the email from noreply@bufvc.ac.uk to confirm your email address.
  3. You will be taken to an institutional login page, use your legacy City email address and password to log in.
  4. Provide your legacy City email and your name to create a BoB account.
  5. Open your email. Find the email from noreply@bufvc.ac.uk and follow the directions to verify your address.

Find videos

  1. Go to BoB and select the Sign in button.
  2. In the Where are you from box, type City, University of London. Select Go.
  3. You will be taken to an institutional login page, use your legacy City email address and password to log in.
  4. Use the search field at the top of the screen to find the video you want to link to Moodle.

Copy embed code

  1. Select the relevant video.
  2. Select the Share tab underneath the video.

  3. Select the Embed option and copy the link displayed.

  1. Open the relevant module.
  2. Turn Edit mode on.
  3. Open the section where you want to display the video.
  4. Select Add an activity or resource. From the Resources tab select Page.
  5. Give the Page a meaningful name.
  6. Scroll to the Page content input field.
  7. Input some contextual information about the video that you are embedding. You could also include some questions that you want the students to consider as they watch the video.
  8. On the top-row of the text editor, select the Arrow button to display the full functionality of the text editor.
  9. Select the triangle brackets icon to display the HTML code.

  10. Place your cursor in the location within the content where you want the video to display. Paste the embed code into the text editor.
  11. Select the triangle brackets icon to review the Page.
  12. Select Save and display to review the embedded video.
