Students do not have to register to participate in polls. If you are using polls as an icebreaker, for example, you may not need to identify respondents.
It is possible to register students by name, which allows you to manage participation, automatically grade students' answers and cross-reference correct answers in different polls. It also allows you to run polls to registered participants only. These polls can still be configured to record anonymous responses.
However, there are data protection implications to this, please get in touch with LEaD via IT Self Service portal to discuss your intended use and whether there may be other more appropriate tools to use to manage your requirements. If pre-registering students is the best option, you will need to explain to students that they are being pre-registered with Poll Everywhere and give them an opportunity to object and not be registered with Poll Everywhere.
