About late submissions

Students who submit after the due date or after the time limit of a timed Moodle assignment will display a late notification. This information is available in different locations depending on the type of assignment.

Student submitted after due date

  1. Open the Assignment activity.
  2. Select View all submissions.

If a student submits their Moodle assignment after the due date, there is a notification in the Status column displaying how late a student submitted. Staff enrolled on a module can select the Status column to group students with a similar status together.

Student submits prior to due date and after time limit for timed assignment

Timed assignments have a fixed assessment window, with the indicative length being timed from the point at which the assignment is started. If a student submits the assignment prior to the due date, but exceeds the time limit set, you will only be able to review this when you select the Grade button to provide grades and feedback to students.

  1. Open the Assignment activity.
  2. Select View all submissions.
  3. Select Grade alongside a student to provide grades and feedback.
  4. There is a notification on the student's submission if the assignment was submitted after the time limit.
