Video preview

This shows you a preview of what is being recorded. There may be a slight delay between your movement and what appears on screen. However, the recording will be perfectly fine.

Scenes

Scenes are compositions or arrangements of elements on screen. Some contain a presenter (e.g. ‘Selfie’) and some don’t (e.g. ‘Title’). You can change to a different scene at any time by pressing a scene button. When you do, one scene blends smoothly into another.

Scene Types

This scene creates a title card. You can type in a main title and/or a subtitle.

You can choose from a range of City School backgrounds, or use your own background in a curved template, which also allows you change the colour of the curve (black or white) and colour of the text.

Audio meter

audio meter

This meter shows your microphone level as you speak. Ideally, when speaking normally the volume should peak between the two while lines. If the outer bar flashes at the top of the meter in bright red, then it means your volume is so high it is overloading the system and distortion will occur.

To change the microphone level, use the AUDIO SET-UP button on the main interface.

Other controls

This allows you to change audio settings.

See Audio

This flips the presenter horizontally (a mirror image), making it easier to point as you present.

Resets all the scenes and other settings to their default settings.

Closes down the DIY Production Studio.

Eye target

flashing eye

The blinking green eye is designed to keep your eyeline directly forward, so you are looking straight at your audience. As long as you stand on the mat, look roughly at the eye as you present, then the recording should be fine.
