STEM Digital Studio guide

This guide will give you useful advice around using the new STEM Digital TV Studio and the production of video presentations for your courses

Choosing a video mode

The Video mode is how you appear with your presentation. There are several arrangements, including being superimposed over your slides or in a picture-in-picture effect.

  1. Select Record Video from the Homepage. From the bottom menu, select Video Mode

  1. Choose a video mode (arrangement)

Green screen: the speaker is superimposed over a full screen presentation or image

Camera: the speaker is recorded 'as is'

Augmented reality: animations are superimposed over the speaker view

Screen only: shows the laptop or visualiser output only

Side by side videos: the speaker is presented on one side and the shared screen on the other

Picture in picture (PP): the speaker appears in a small box within the content/image being shared

Screen PIP: the speaker is presented against the green screen and a smaller box with content/image that is being shared will appear on the right.

Choosing a content source

The Content source is a visual you are superimposed over or displayed with. This could be a PowerPoint presentation on your laptop, or a background image from the Rapidmooc.

  1. Select Record Video from the Homepage. Choose Content Source from the bottom menu

  1. Select your content source - either Laptop source or Background Image. It will be highlighted in green.

  1. By clicking on Load image you can pick a background image of your choice.

Scene editor (advanced)

The different video modes will cover most user's needs. However, each of these video modes can be further modified to give a bespoke composition for your requirements.

  1. Select Record Video from the Homepage. Click on the Settings button on the bottom menu.

  1. Select Scene Editor.

    • Main Camera
    • Laptop Screen
    • Background

  4. You can move your chosen element by clicking and dragging. You can resize using the resize slider. The Main camera has extra options to change the shape of its container, e.g. rectangle, circle.

  1. Continue with the other items to create an arrangement you like.

  2. If you wish to save this arrangement, choose Save Scene and give it name.

  3. To load a previously made scene, select Load Scene and choose a template.
