When creating a quiz, you can separate related questions into Grade items and display the grade achieved for each grade item. Grade items can help students to identify their relative strengths in the separate sections of the quiz.
Staff can view the results for each grade item to identify areas for improvement.
Please note: Quiz grade items are only visible within the quiz. In the module Grader Report, only the overall grade for the whole quiz is displayed.
You can add your questions to your quiz, then organise them in grade items, or create your grade items and then add questions to them.
You can add extra grade items, and move questions between them after you have created the quiz and after students have already completed attempts.
If you have added sections to your quiz and allocated questions to those sections, you have the option to automatically create a grade item for each section.
Please note: If you move questions between sections after setting up the grade items, you must change the grade item associated with the moved questions via the Grade items setup menu.

After questions are added to your quiz, they will be listed below the grade items.
Select the appropriate grade item from the dropdown menu to the right of each question.
You do not have to allocate all questions to a grade item. Questions can remain outside a grade item.
Select Results to review student attempts and grades.
Each student attempt displays their overall grade and their grade against each grade item.

When students review the quiz after marks are released, the marks display as an overall grade and also a mark per grade item.
Please note: within the module Grader report, the students will only see the overall mark.

You can completely reset the grade Item setup or reallocate questions to another grade Item without affecting the questions or any completed attempts. You can also remove all grade items.
Select Questions > Grade items setup.
Select Reset Setup.
